Biography of LIU Jian
刘健,上海音乐学院作曲博士,中央音乐学院作曲博士后,浙江师范大学教授,硕士研究生导师,浙江音乐家协会会员,中国音乐家协会会员、中国民族管弦乐协会会员,中国音乐协会评论学会会员。
本科就读于星海音乐学院,双修音乐学系和作曲技术理论系。在音乐学系为西方史专业,师从黄虹教授;作曲师从徐学吉教授和李方副教授。2007-2010年在上海音乐学院攻读作曲硕士研究生,师从吕黄副教授;2010年开始攻读上海音乐学院作曲博士研究生,导师杨立青教授,2013年6月取得博士学位;现在任职于浙江师范大学音乐学院。2019年9月至12月入选上海音乐学院亚欧中心邀访学者;2017年9月进入中央音乐学院音乐研究所流动站,合作导师为郭文景教授,2022年顺利出站。
在理论方面,刘健专注于斯特拉文斯基与毕加索之关系,音乐空间问题、以及音乐能量问题的研究,已在《音乐研究》《中国音乐学》《人民音乐》《星海音乐学院学报》《北方音乐——哈尔滨音乐学院学报》等权威、核心期刊上发表近二十篇论文。作为青年作曲家,她同时涉足西洋乐器和中国民乐器乐的创作,致力于现代音乐中西交融的探索。其作品曾在国家大剧院等国内外重大音乐节/活动中上演;十余个作品在刘天华作曲比赛、帕拉天奴、全国音乐作品评奖(文华奖)、美国长风奖、金钟奖等重大专业作曲比赛中获取奖项与好评。她于2015年和2017年两次主持国家艺术基金项目;2019年在北京举办“冀中乡韵的当代回响——2019刘健作品音乐会暨研讨会”;2022年6月发行个人作品专辑《踏歌而行——刘健获奖作品选》。
LIU Jian, doctor of Composition in Shanghai Conservatory of Music, postdoctor of Composition in Central Conservatory of Music, is the associate professor of Zhejiang Normal University. Currently a member of China Musicians Association, Review Society in China Musicians Association and China Nationalities Orchestra Society.
LIU Jian, Doctor in composition from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Postdoctoral Fellow in Composition from Central Conservatory of Music, Associate Professor, and master’s degree Tutor of Zhejiang Normal University, as well as a member of Zhejiang Musicians Association, Chinese Musicians Association, China Nationalities Orchestra Society, and China Music Association Criticism Society.
She got her Bachelor’s degree in Xinghai Conservatory of Music, studied The History of Western Music with Professor Hong,Huang and Composition Theory with Professor Xueji,Xu and Associate Professor Fang,Li. She got her Master’s degree in Shanghai Conservatory of Music, studied Composition with associate professor Huang,Lu. From 2010, she began to work for her doctorate in Composition in Shanghai Conservatory of Music under the guidance of professor Liqing,Yang, and received a doctor’s degree in 2013. Now she is working at Zhejiang Normal Universty. From September to December 2019, she was selected as a visiting scholar at the Asia-Europe Center of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. In September 2017, she joined the Music Research Institute at Central Conservatory of Music, collaborating with Professor Guo Wenjing as a postdoctoral fellow, and has successfully completed this program in 2022.
In theoretical research, Liu Jian concentrates on the relation between Stravinsky and Picasso, the research of the space in music, and the kinetic nature of music; and has been published about 20 articles in the most prodigious journals in China, such as Music Research, Musicology in China, People’s Music, Journal of Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Journal of the Northern Music. As a young composer, she has devoted to compose with western instruments and performed in major music festivals or events at home and abroad, such as Shanghai Contemporary Music week, Beijing German Music Week, Hamburg Music Festival in Germany, Shanghai IPEA Percussion Festival, CCTV and National Grand Theater. More than ten works have won awards and praise in major professional composition competitions such as Liu Tianhua Composition Competition, Palatino, National Music Awards (Wenhua Award), American Chandfeng Award and Golden Bell Award. She hosted the National Art Fund twice in 2015 and 2017; held “Contemporary Echoes of the Jizhong rhyme-2019 LIU Jian’s Work Concert and Seminar” in Beijing in 2019.In June 2022, she released her personal album “Walking with Singing—Selection of Award-winning Music Works of Liu Jian”.

Ø 管弦乐队《澧水之际》第一乐章在2012年6月13日上海贺绿汀音乐厅首演。The first movement of Beside the Li River I for orchestra premiered in the He Luting Concert Hall of Shanghai Conservatory of Music in June, 2012, Ying Jiangnan for Er-hu and ensemble premiered in June, 2012, and the first movement of Between the ocean and sky II for orchestra is going to premiere in the National Centre for Performing Arts in Oct.2013.
Ø 男声五重唱与打击乐《靑哇哇木偶》获2013年浙江省第一届合唱作品比赛二等奖。Qingwawa Puppet for male vocal quintet and percussion (won the second prize in the 1st Zhejiang Choral Composition Competition in 2013.)
Ø 女高音与室内乐《周南·关雎》获2012年上海音乐学院第四届“百川奖”优秀奖;女高音与钢琴《周南·关雎》获2014年第三届东盟音乐周作曲比赛三等奖。2017年获批国家艺术基金小型舞台项目;2018年4月29日在湖州“南太湖芦花音乐节”的中韩首届艺术歌曲作品音乐会上演出获得好评。Zhounan Guanju for soprano and ensemble received an Excellence Award in the 4th “Rivers Awards” held by Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2012. The same work for soprano and piano won the third prize in the 3rd Chinese—ASEAN Music Festival in 2014. In 2017, Liu Jian’s project was approved by the National Art Fund for a small-scale stage performance. On April 29, 2018, the performance received high praise at the inaugural China-Korea Art Song Works Concert during the “Nan Taihu Lu Hua Music Festival” in Huzhou.
Ø 打击乐四重奏《森林的眼睛》于2014年12月23日,在贺绿汀音乐厅“浪潮V”音乐会世界首演并获得好评。percussion quartet Eyes of Forest was premiered in the He Luting Concert Hall of Shanghai Conservatory of Music in December, 2014 Percussion quartet Eyes of Forest was premiered on December 23, 2014, at the “Wave V” concert in He Luting Concert Hall, receiving high praise.
Ø 女高音与室内乐《新燕燕做媒》于2015年5月17日在“上海之春”演出,获评2015上海之春群文新人新作展评展演新作奖。New Yanyan as A Matchmaker for soprano and ensemble was performed in 2015 Shanghai Spring International Music Festival;
Ø 西洋管弦乐队《“落水天”不打伞》入围2016-2017年国家大剧院青年作曲家计划前12名展演阶段, 2017年8月18日在国家大剧院由张艺指挥执棒、中央芭蕾舞交响乐团首演成功。Orchestra Walking in the Rain was performed in the NCPA in Aug. 18,2017 The Orchestral piece Walking in the Rain was selected as one of the top 12 performers of the 2016-2017 Young Composers Programme launched by the National Centre for the Performing Arts and was premiered by the Central Ballet and Symphony Orchestra at the National Centre for the Performing Arts under the baton of Zhang Yi, 18th August 2017.
Ø 打击乐三重奏《有翼的呼吸》作为2017年第二届IPEA国际打击乐节演奏家组复赛指定参赛曲目,2017年10月4日由来自多个国内外专业院校的参赛队伍首演。Winged Breath for percussion trio was the set piece of Professional Adult Group of 2017 the Second IPEA International Percussion Competition, premiered in Oct. 4th in He Luting Concert Hall of Shanghai Conservatory of Music. The percussion trio Winged Breath was premiered as the designated entry for the resumed competition of the Performer Category of the 2nd IPEA (International Percussion Festival). Subsequently, it was premiered several times by domestic and international groups from professional institutions on 4th October 2017.
Ø 《古琴与钢琴》在2017年第三届中国民族音乐节暨“学院奖”民乐作品评选获三等奖,2017年12月2日在中央音乐学院音乐厅首演成功。Qin and Piano-forte was performed in Dec. 2nd in 2017 in the Consert Hall of Central Conservatory of Music (the third prize of the “Colloge Award”)
Ø 古筝与弦乐四重奏《残荷听雨》在2017年上海音乐学院第七届“百川奖”中获得三等奖,2017年12月4日在上海贺绿汀音乐厅首演成功,获得好评。“Listenin to the Rain Dropping on Withered Lotus Leaves” for Zheng zither and string quartet was premiered in He Luting Concert Hall of Shanghai Conservatory of Music (the third prize in 2017 “SHCM” the Seventh Rivers Awards Composition Competition)
Ø 舞蹈《1937》(作曲)入选2018年浙江省“高雅艺术进校园”活动,2019年入选“第一批高校原创文化精品推广行动计划”,于2018年10月24日在浙江省中医药大学首演,2018年10月至2019年9月在浙江高校巡演十余场。“1937” for dance commissioned by 2018“School Concert” in Zhejiang Province and premiered in Zhejiang Chinese Medical University and touring decades times in Zhejiang province. The dance 1937 (composition) was selected as one of the activities of “Introducing Classical into campus” in Zhejiang Province in 2018. Additionally, it was chosen as part of the “First Batch of Action Plan for the Promotion of Original Cultural Excellence in Colleges and Universities” in 2019. The composition had its premiere on 24th October 2018 at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University and was subsequently performed in more than ten universities across Zhejiang province from October 2018 to September 2019.
Ø 十五把胡琴《留连戏蝶》由浙江音乐学院胡琴乐团约稿,参与2019年中央电视台中国器乐电视大赛,2019年7月9日录制,20日在音乐频道(CCTV15)中播放。“Wandering Butterflies”for Fifteen Erhu commissioned by Zhejiang Conservatory of Music and broadcasting on Channel CCTV 15 on Jul 9th 2019.
Ø 二胡与合唱队《江河泪》是浙江音乐学院“八秒”合唱团的约稿,于2019年8月4日在浙江音乐学院周颖音乐厅首演,2019年8月8日在国家大剧院再次演出。该作品将于2020年1月在《“八秒”合唱团经典曲集》中出版(人民音乐出版社)。“Tears of The River” for Erhu and Chorus commissioned by “8 seconds” Chorus of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music and played in National Centre for the Performing Arts on Aug. 8th 2019. This work would be included and published in the Collection for 8 seconds Chorum.
Ø 2019年11月1日在中央音乐学院王府音乐厅举办“冀中乡韵的当代回响——2019刘健作品音乐会”,首演了《三个太阳一个影》、《赶子》《河西钹》《年味》《冀中乡韵》和《半个放驴伪爵士》6个作品;2019年11月2日举办研讨会。The concert “Contemporary Echoes of Jizhong Rural Rhyme——Liu Jian’s composition 2019” held at Wangfu Concert Hall of the Central Conservatory of Music has premiered six works including Three Suns and One Shadow, Gan Zi, Hexi Bo, Flavor of the year, Jizhong Rural Rhyme and Half a Donkey Phony Jazz on November 1, 2019. A seminar was held on the following day.
Ø 2020年受湖州师范学院邀约,为单人舞蹈《飞白》创作配乐。该作品已入围2020年韩国SCF首尔国际编舞节,于2020年12月在首尔国际首演;入选上海国际舞蹈中心剧场“2021年度孵化项目”;入选2021年12月3-5日美国洛杉矶舞蹈节(LADF);参与2021年11月22日“尹坦科作品展演”,被评为首尔国际舞蹈节“最佳作品”;2021年12月12日受邀“2021Moon Dance Collective pick your color”剧场演出。LIU Jian composed for solo dance Fei Bai as a commission from Huzhou Normal University in 2020. The work was selected to participate in the 2020 Seoul International Choreography Festival (SCF) in South Korea and had its premiere at the Seoul International in December 2020. Additionally, it was also chosen for the “2021 Incubation Program” at the Shanghai International Dance Center and selected to be part of the 2021 Los Angeles Dance Festival (LADF) held on December 3-5, 2021. Furthermore, it took part in the “Yin Tanke Works Exhibition” on November 22, 2021, and was awarded the “Best Work” at the Seoul International Dance Festival. Lastly, on December 12, 2021, it was invited to perform at the “2021 Moon Dance Collective pick your color” theater event.
Ø 管弦乐队《鼓铮III》在 2021年6月19日由朱琪元执棒苏州交响乐团在金鸡湖音乐厅首演,获得第二届金鸡湖作曲比赛第四名优秀奖。The orchestral piece Guzheng III was premiered on June 19, 2021 by the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra under the conduction of Zhu Qiyuan at Jinji Lake Concert Hall. It received the Fourth Place as Excellence Award in the 2nd Jinji Lake Composition Competition.
Ø 人声、重奏与舞蹈《钗头凤》为浙江音乐学院舞蹈系约稿,于2022年5月27日在浙江音乐学院舞蹈剧场的“音韵舞境”首演。Chai Tou Feng for vocal, ensemble, and dance was commissioned by the Dance Department of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music. It was premiered at the Dance Theater of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music as part of the “Yin Yun Wu Jing” event on May 27, 2022.
Ø 音乐舞蹈剧《双阳赋》于2023年5月在中国婺剧院首演。The music and dance theatre Shuangyang Fu was premiered at the China Wu Theatre in May 2023.
Ø 打击乐重奏与电子音乐《日月骕骦马》于2023年12月10日在上音歌剧院,“上海音乐学院现代器乐于打击乐系建系20周年‘交融’音乐会”上成功首演,获得广泛好评。The percussion ensemble and electronic music "Sun and Moon Sable" was successfully premiered on December 10, 2023 at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Opera House, as part of the "20th Anniversary of the Modern Instrumental and Percussion Department 'Fusion' Concert and received widespread acclaim.
Ø 民乐重奏《争渡、争渡》荣由广东省文化和旅游厅主办、广东民族乐团和广东音乐家协会承办、香港中文大学(深圳)音乐学院协办的2023第三届“南粤新声”广东音乐新经典工程征集活动,中国(民族)室内乐作品优秀奖。The folk music ensemble "Zhengdu, Zhengdu" won the excellent award for Chinese (national) chamber music works in the 023 Third "New Voice of the South Yue" Guangdong Music New Classic Project Collection Activity, which was sponsored by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and, organized by the Guangdong National Orchestra and the Guangdong Music Association, and co-organized by the School of Music of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (enzhen).
Ø 古筝与交响乐队《荷》入围由上海之春国际音乐节组委会、中国音乐家协会共同指导,由上海音乐家协会主办的第三十八届上海之春国际音乐节“海上新梦·十六”原创作品音乐会。The Guzheng and Symphony Orchestra "Lotus" was shortlisted for the 38th Shanghai Spring International Music Festival "Dream of the SeaSixteen" Original Works Concert, which was jointly guided by the Shanghai Spring International Music Festival Organizing Committee and the Chinese Music Association, and sponsored by the Shanghai Music.
Ø 打击乐独奏《为大堂鼓而作I》获2024年第三届“敦煌奖”中国民族室内乐与独奏新作品评展活动优秀作品奖。Percussion solo "I for the Hall Drum" won the excellent work award at the 3rd "Dunhuang Award" National Instrumental Chamber Music and Solo New Works Exhibition in 2024.
Ø 打击乐重奏《赵子龙截江》的室内乐版于2024年12月6日在华南师范大学音乐厅首演,室内乐加醒狮版2025年1月12日再次演出。The chamber music version of the percussion ensemble "Zhao Zilong Intercepts the River" was premiered on December 6, 024, at the Music Hall of South China Normal University, and the chamber music plus lion dance version was performed again on January 12, 225.

During the program, he engaged in a dialogue with CCTV host Su Yang and lecturer Rao Xi from the Chinese National Academy of Arts. The episode concluded with an excerpt from Liu Jian's composition "Half-Donkey Fake Jazz.""Half-Donkey Fake Jazz" creatively incorporates musical elements from the Hebei wind-and-percussion piece "Fang Lü," blending them with Western jazz harmonies and swing rhythms.
