Abstract : Highlights: [•] A comparative study on the photoactivities of AgI-SmVO 4 and AgCl-SmVO 4 was done. [•] The AgI-SmVO 4 degraded RhB 3× faster than AgCl-SmVO 4 under visible light. [•] The origin of the different activities was discussed.
