主要从事湿地古生态领域的研究，利用湿地沉积物中的植物大化石分析湿地生态系统的演化背景，根据湿地沉积物中的有机碳含量、干容重等基础理化指标定量湿地的碳累积变化。在此基础上，建立植被群落与碳累积速率等生态数据的时间序列。利用DCA物种样品排序、STARS计算、自相关分析及其它弹性评估和稳态转换早期信号识别的方法对湿地生态系统中植被群落、碳累积速率等关键变量进行统计分析，揭示湿地生态系统的弹性变化特征，评估生态系统有无发生稳态转换。结合生态系统适应性循环和弹性特征，选择稳定状态下的生态特征建立湿地生态恢复参考基准。
