Daru Chen was born in Yongjia, P.R.China, in 1982. He received the B.S. degree and Ph.D degree from Zhejiang University in 2004 and 2009, respectively. He worked as a research assistant or visiting researcher in The Chinese University of Hong Kong (in 2007), National Chiao Tung University (in 2008) and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2009-2011). He is currently with the Hangzhou Institute of Advanced Studies, Zhejiang Normal University. His current research interests include fiber lasers, and fiber sensors. He has published about 150 journal papers which have been cited more than 1500 times.
